“The music we’re doing now works well in quiet places like theaters and performing art centers. We still don’t use a program or a set list so we don’t know what we’ll do until we do it. Please do not expect old songs. Many singers my age do a retrospective; this show is not like that. It’s mostly stuff made up in the last 3 and 4 years. Some of the songs presented might be in different languages; this is not to be esoteric or clever, it’s because the different languages help me express different feelings sometimes. One last thing, my idea of a good show has nothing to do with applause. It’s about if all the songs I sang that night were ones that I felt.” – Jonathan

About The African American Dance Company Presents: HIStory, HERstory, Our Story
The final installment of “HIStory, HERstory, Our Story” shows the evolution of the African American Dance Company since its inception in 1974. Through captivating dance and documentary, we better understand how dance is used through resistance, celebration, and transition. Paired with archival footage is a panel discussion consisting of the inaugural director, Professor Iris Rosa; current director Baba Stafford C. Berry Jr.; and AADC alum. Audience members are encouraged to participate in the Q&A after the screening.
AADC Dance Excerpts (2024, 60 min): Following Because We Are, enjoy this collection of four dances from throughout the African American Dance Company’s history.
Because We Are (Dir. Ashley Hayes, 2024, 19 min): Because We Are follows the story of the African American Dance Company during their 50th season at their annual Kukusanya intensive workshop, a time of gathering together in community as the term kukusanya evokes. It also invites viewers into the world of the Dance Company, its members, and their practice of ubuntu, the essence of the Africanist principle that “I am, because we are.”

The 2025 Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference (ISRC) will shine a spotlight on efforts to implement sustainable practices across the state as well as opportunities to accelerate the adoption of effective climate solutions.
Hosted by Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI) and presenting supporter the Indianapolis Airport Authority, the one-day event is open to anyone—professionals, scholars, community leaders, students, and others—who wants to learn about climate pollution reduction initiatives in the state and strategies to protect communities and businesses from the impacts of extreme weather.
Registration for ISRC includes a full day of conference activities, a buffet lunch, and a networking happy hour to round out the day.

Three teams will perform side-splitting 10-minute improv sets.
The audience votes for their favorite team.
The winning team returns next month as the headliner for a 25-minute set.

Synopsis: In this surreal vision of the not-too-distant-future, the official language of Canada is now Farsi. Against this oddball background, three slice-of-life stories emerge: Two young friends venture to retrieve money found frozen in a block of winter ice. A man quits his painfully bureaucratic government job and returns home. And a peculiar tour guide shows off some of Winnipeg’s dullest attractions to a group of discombobulated tourists. Taken together, these deadpan stories create a picture of life in the “heart of Canada” that’s both hilarious and heartwarming.
Featuring masterful production design with an eye toward the absurd, director Matthew Rankin (The Twentieth Century) describes his second feature as “a love letter to Iranian cinema,” combining the soulfulness of Abbas Kiarostami with the visual whimsy of Wes Anderson to create an appealingly unusual odyssey.
Mendez is an intuitive songwriter, melodies channeled through ether, a storyteller who across his catalog has chronicled vivid violence and instability — a wallet chain to the head, a crack house arrest, the misdeeds from addiction that hang around like a ghost of past lives — but it’s threaded together with love songs, too, with odes to friendship, true dedication, the things that can buoy one through the worst. Mendez has a habit of noticing those things, of finding the light, exacting poetry from even the bleakest, shit-caked situations. In his songs there is an innate ability to balance grit with gentleness, cruelties rewritten through preternatural sweetness, a heart thrumming unendingly, confidently, through the dark.

The Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market is the oldest winter market in Indiana as it enters its 21st year serving the community of Bloomington.
The BWFM has a diversity of vendors and products including fresh produce, local meat and poultry, dairy products, eggs, maple syrup, honey products, breads, baked goods, jams and sauces, prepared foods, locally roasted coffee, cut flowers, seeds and plants, artisanal crafts and many other items. You can find everything you need for nourishing winter meals along with local crafts, seasonal gifts and shareable treats!
This meeting is open to all members of the organization, and the public; however, we especially ask that voting members attend, either physically or virtually, so that we might reach a quorum of 25% of our voting membership. If you are not a voting member, and would like to change your membership status, please contact [email protected].
The Annual Meeting is the primary group governance mechanism of Bloominglabs; the Officers will present the 2024 Annual Report, elections for new Officers will take place (President, Treasurer, Secretary, and two At Large positions), and the attendees as a whole will discuss our plans for the next year.
Additionally, there will be the traditional coffee and donuts provided.

All proceeds from both the gumbo cook off and bake off, chefs and tasters, will be going directly to our local Red Barn Food Pantry, thank you for helping us, help others.
