King Crimson is a band that people literally are dying to be in. In the Court of the Crimson King is a dark, comic film for anyone who wonders whether it is worth sacrificing everything for just a single moment of transcendence. For over 50 years Robert Fripp, also famous for his work with David Bowie and Brian Eno, has overseen a unique creative environment in which freedom and responsibility conspire to place extraordinary demands on the band’s members – only alleviated by the applause of an audience whose adoration threatens to make their lives even harder. It’s a rewarding and perilous space in which the extraordinary is possible, nothing is certain, and not everyone survives intact.
Presented by the Latin American Music Center.

Ready to press pause on what you already know? TEDxIndianaUniversity presents “Play or Pause,” our seventh annual conference, inviting Bloomington and Indiana University communities for an exhilarating dive into choice and transformation. Our curated lineup boasts six global speakers, driven by sharing impactful ideas. More than a conference, it’s an immersion into contemplating action and stillness, momentum, and reflection.
Life oscillates between spirited playfulness and introspective pauses, defining our existence. Some embrace “play” as life’s essence; others seek a blend. “Play or Pause” challenges the idea of a final endpoint to this dynamic, inviting us to reevaluate strategies and explore fresh perspectives on life’s choices.
Join us for a transformative journey, redefining our narratives through choice at “Play or Pause.”
This event is recommended for ages 13 and older. It is possible that the content of our speakers’ stories may be complex for younger audiences.

Ballerina Boys is a portrait of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (The Trocks), an all-male ballet company and international dance sensation. For over 45 years the company has shared their signature style and message of equality, inclusion and social justice with audiences around the world. The men perform classical ballet en pointe and in drag, challenging the art form’s rigid gender norms as they mix rigorous technique with comedy and satire. Inspired by the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the company was fueled by the spirit of defiance and creative exuberance that the gay rights movement unleashed. The film follows The Trocks on tour in the Carolinas, an epicenter of continued struggles for LGBTQ rights. Ballerina Boys interweaves original interviews and contemporary and archival performance footage to tell the remarkable history of the company and culminates with The Trocks’ 2019 performance at the Stonewall 50th anniversary concert at Central Park’s SummerStage in New York City. In the words of ballerina Kevin Garcia, “Every time the curtain opens we represent progress for equality. We just do it dancing.”

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, the world’s foremost all-male comic ballet company, brings its internationally beloved troupe of dancers to Bloomington as part of its landmark 50th anniversary season, featuring gems from the company’s groundbreaking repertoire. Founded in New York City in 1974, the company, affectionately known as The Trocks, has grown from its roots in late-late shows in off-off Broadway lofts to become a global touring sensation, performing from Tokyo to Toronto and everywhere in between.
The company dances with razor-sharp wit and breathtaking pointe work, performing polished parodies of works that span the classical ballet canon. Revered by ballet aficionados as well as by those who don’t know a plié from a jeté, the Trocks are “a guaranteed hoot for people who know nothing of ballet and an absolute must for those who think they know the originals.”
