At the peak of his creative powers the 29 year old Bernardo Bertolucci rejected the influence of mentor, Jean-Luc Godard, and partnered up with Vittorio Storaro and developed his own style, creating one of the most visually dazzling, politically and psychologically intriguing, landmark Italian films.
The story begins in Rome, 1938. Marcello (Jean-Louis Trintignant) is a young fascist who takes on the job of assassinating his former professor who has fled to Paris. A thriller as well as study of Italian politics and psychological character, Bertolucci’s Oscar nominated adaptation of Alberto Moravia’s novel (an adaptation Moravia greatly admired) has gone on to influence filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola, Paul Schrader and Martin Scorsese and remains one of the great triumphs of world cinema.
This is a new 4K restoration, supervised by Vittorio Storaro • 1970 • in Italian with English subtitles • 111 min
A visually stunning contemporary waltz through the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Vicky Krieps), the beloved, restless, and occasionally scandalous 19th-century ruler.
It’s Christmastime, 1877, in the Austro-Hungarian capital of Vienna, and Empress Elisabeth is thrown into turmoil as she anticipates being considered an old woman–after all, she’s almost 40. She is feeling constricted: by her dysfunctional marriage to the emotionally distant Emperor Franz Joseph, by her largely ceremonial public appearances, and by the corset that gives this film its title.
Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) won Best Actress at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for her performance as a woman who rebels against the stifling conformity of her stuffy, unfulfilling lifestyle.
Six guests are anonymously invited to a strange mansion for dinner, but after their host is killed, they must cooperate with the staff to identify the murderer as the bodies pile up!!

Forrest McCurren comes from the heart of the heartland, where the foothills of the Ozarks meet the Big Muddy: The Middle-of-Missouri. Blazing his own trail while stylistically tipping his hat to the songwriting giants of the past, McCurren wields the magic of lyricism to cast a light on the many intricacies of everyday life set against vignettes of Middle America. Tackling topics such as: wise words from waitresses, heartbroken high school football standouts, and tattooed trailer park lovers, McCurren writes songs for good people that got bad grades in school, are drunk on dreams, and still trying to figure out if life is sour or sweet.
In these seven stories of The People from Bloomington, our peculiar narrators find themselves in the most peculiar of circumstances and encounter the most peculiar of people. Set in Bloomington, Indiana, where the author lived as a graduate student in the 1970s, this is far from the idyllic portrait of small-town America. Rather, sectioned into apartment units and rented rooms, and gridded by long empty streets and distances traversable only by car, it’s a place where the solitary can all too easily remain solitary; where people can at once be obsessively curious about others, yet fail to form genuine connections with anyone. The characters feel their loneliness acutely and yet deliberately estrange others. Budi Darma paints a realist world portrayed through an absurdist frame, morbid and funny at the same time.
For decades, Budi Darma has influenced and inspired many writers, artists, filmmakers, and readers in Indonesia, yet his stories transcend time and place. With The People from Bloomington, Budi Darma draws us to a universality recognized by readers around the world–the cruelty of life and the difficulties that people face in relating to one another while negotiating their own identities. The stories are not about “strangeness” in the sense of culture, race, and nationality. Instead, they are a statement about how everyone, regardless of nationality or race, is strange, and subject to the same tortures, suspicions, yearnings, and peculiarities of the mind.
Trivia consisting of three rounds of three different categories with prizes and fun galore.

Black Opry is a home for Black artists and Black fans of country, blues, folk, and Americana music. Country music has been made by and loved by Black people since it’s conception. For just as long, we have been overlooked and disregarded in the genre by fans and executives.
Black Opry wants to change that. We invite you to discover, support and enjoy the Black artists that make magic in this space. One of the most valuable aspects of country music is its versatility and diversity in sound. Country, blues, folk, and Americana music often overlap or weave together- these artists explore all of those sounds and intersections. The Black Opry Revue showcases the diversity in sound and stories that Black artists offer to these genres.
