In this bittersweet Parisian romance from Cédric Klapisch (The Spanish InnRussian DollsBack to Burgundy), warehouse employee Rémy (François Civil) and research assistant Mélanie (Ana Girardot) have never met, but they live parallel lives—they reside in neighboring apartment buildings, ride the same subway route, and are troubled by bouts of insomnia and depression. Their days punctuated by unfulfilling jobs, they seek meaningful romantic and platonic connection. As they stumble through psychotherapy, dating apps, fainting spells, and family visits, the seemingly star-crossed duo orbit around each other but remain just out of reach. Klapisch spins a delicate “what-if” from their compartmentalization, exploring our increasingly hermetic modern urban life. In French with English Subtitles.

Zoom to a Solarize meeting – Solar Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN), Bloomington, IN
May 28 @ 7:00 pm

Did you know that you can get solar power for less than you’re paying now for your electric bill? Customers of Duke Energy can benefit from net metering until year 2032 and a 26 percent federal tax credit is available for 2020.  The Solarize program is open to residential, commercial and nonprofit property owners in Monroe and nearby counties.

Learn about the performance, cost and incentives for solar energy systems from Solar Indiana Renewable Energy Network volunteers. For the duration on the Covid-19 crisis, all presentations take place online via Zoom. Access codes will be emailed to you when you sign up. You will be able to ask questions of the presenters and the solar company.

You can register for upcoming sessions at www.tinyurl.com/HelpingYouGoSolar

SIREN acts as a technical advisor on a non-profit, volunteer basis. SIREN and its volunteers are not paid in any way. The City of Bloomington collaborates with SIREN on this program to further demonstrate its support for renewable energy. See https://bloomington.in.gov/sustainability/solarize for details. **the city does not subsidize purchases**

The Solar Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN) formed in 2008 to promote an alternative energy model to reduce dependence on coal. Since then, we have continued to help more and more homes, businesses, churches, governmental buildings, and schools become solar powered. By presenting free, public Going Solar programs, and organizing Solarize group-purchase programs in partnership with city teams around the state, we help overcome barriers to adoption of solar in the Midwest by demonstrating its performance, affordability, and availability. If you want to see our culture move away from fossil fuels as a foundation, embracing the possibility of carbon-neutral energy, then join our efforts right here in southern Indiana.

It’s the last night before their grown-up lives begin, and Steve’s high-school sweetheart, a hot-to-trot blonde, a bratty adolescent and a disappearing angel in a Thunderbird provide all the excitement they can handle.

https://browncountyplayhouse.org/2020-for-2020-2

Introducing 2020 for 2020. Let’s be honest—we are all concerned at this moment in time about what the future holds. Understandably, we are thinking about the future of the Brown County Playhouse, trying to ensure long-term sustainability and a bright future.

The Playhouse is a historical jewel that needs to continue the tradition of bringing great entertainment to our visitors and local folks as well for many years to come. So, after much thoughtful consideration, we came up with this idea for two win/win offers that can help us both. Here are two ways to support through this program.

We need your partnership. We need your support. This is our time to shine, working together to sustain and provide for the future of the Brown County Playhouse. https://browncountyplayhouse.org/2020-for-2020-2

There are many memories built through the decades of high-quality, historical performances, and many memories yet to be made. We all have a vested interest in this. Thank you for your support, both in the past and in the future.

The Beatles: A Hard Day’s Night (1964) – IU Cinema, Bloomington, IN
Jun 4 @ 6:45 pm – 8:30 pm

On Thursday, June 4, IU Cinema Founding Director Jon Vickers, Jacobs School of Music Professor Glenn Gass, and music theorist Gabriel Lubell will participate in an interactive conversation and Q&A about the film and The Beatles at 7 pm.

Be sure to download the free online meeting platform Zoom to your computer or phone to be able to access this special film introduction and sign up to join the June 4 Zoom event via this link.

Meet the Beatles! Just one month after they exploded onto the U.S. scene with their Ed Sullivan Show appearance, John, Paul, George, and Ringo began working on a project that would bring their revolutionary talent to the big screen. A Hard Day’s Night, in which the bandmates play cheeky comic versions of themselves, captured the astonishing moment when they officially became the singular, irreverent idols of their generation and changed music forever. Directed with raucous, anything-goes verve by Richard Lester, A Hard Day’s Night reconceived the movie musical and remains one of the most deliriously entertaining movies of all time.

Mystery Box Movie: The 80’s Edition, Brown County Playhouse, 70 South Van Buren Street, Nashville, Indiana
Jun 12 @ 7:00 pm

N THE SPIRIT OF TRYING NEW THINGS and keeping it fun and interesting, here is our newest, latest, greatest idea. Ready? So, you know how sometimes people buy a Mystery Box, not knowing what is inside on the promise that it is something good and worth at least as much as was paid for it? This is a spin on that idea.

We are going to do a series of themed “Mystery Box Movies” that will include a great movie with a great Mystery Box snack. The catch? You don’t know what the movie is until the screen lights up. It’s a surprise! It’s all about the intrigue. Who doesn’t like a surprise?

Trust us. We want to bring you the best in entertainment. We will have teaser hints along the way, and you might get a good idea or even guess the movie.

Our first MBM is The 80’s Edition. COME DRESSED IN YOUR FAVORITE 80’s STYLES.

The cost is $15, and includes a snack box by Nashville Fudge Kitchen. It’ll be gnarly and tubular. Duh.

Zoom to a Solarize meeting – Solar Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN), Bloomington, IN
Jun 16 @ 7:00 pm
