Due to COVID-19, the Southern Indiana 6K for Water will be a virtual event this year. When you register, you will receive your 6K t-shirt, race bib and medal in the mail prior to May 16th. On race day, you can choose to walk or run through your neighborhood or another course of your choosing. Use hashtag #southernindiana6k for your photos so we can all celebrate changing lives together (while at the same time social distancing ourselves)!
On Saturday, May 16th, thousands of people from around the globe will walk or run 6K to bring life-changing clean water to communities in need. 6 Kilometers is the average distance people in the developing world walk for water – water that is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases.

Join us for STEM Sundays and work together on a project for the whole family! This week we will be learning about the science of sound and creating musical instruments. Use ideas from existing instruments to design and create your own! Bring materials you can use to build an instrument such as cardboard boxes, empty tubs, rice, rubber bands, popsicle sticks, balloons, empty cans, bottle caps, aluminum foil, or bobby pins. No matter what you have at home, there’s something you can make. All welcome.
This program is made possible through funding from Cook Medical and CFC Properties.

The notorious masked bandit of the American Wild West, “Draw” Egan, narrowly escapes a posse of lawmen during a shootout with him and his gang. He flees to the town of Yellow Dog where he assumes the new identity of William Blake (yes, the same name as the English poet and protagonist in Jim Jarmusch’s western, Dead Man). After winning a brawl with a lawless character, he is offered the job of marshal. With eyes for the mayor’s daughter, he accepts and begins cleaning up the town, though it is not long before Egan’s past catches up to him.

This past Friday, Kris came up with a way to play a virtual version of The Price is Right with some extra challenges. We had lots of fun guessing how much food and household items cost. The extra challenges included guessing how much the price of certain paper products and disinfectants. Our intern Jody won on Friday so there were no prizes distributed, but that may change when/if a members wins!
We are keeping these social hours going and would love to see some more of you join Endwright staff and others for games, trivia, and creative challenges.
We have a special craft challenge planned for this Friday. To participate, please gather these household items: Q-tips, 2 toilet paper rolls, scotch tape, plastic lids (any size), plastic spoon, fork, or knife, shoe string, straws, coffee filters, paper plates, and a pop can
Even if you don’t have these items or feel up to the challenge, join us anyway. We guarantee you’ll get a few laughs out of your systems!
To join, follow this link at 12 pm on Fridays: https://zoom.us/j/95633909324

MC-IRIS works with landowners, educators, researchers, and agencies all over the county to protect our diverse natural areas from Invasive species. Join us at our meetings, work days, or educational events to be part of the solution! Enjoy the 1 minute video on MC-IRIS below and check our calendar for upcoming events.
Invasive plants harm pollinators, wildlife, and rare species. And they cost money – $15 billion/year nationally! They can reduce your ability to enjoy hunting, fishing, mushroom collecting, bird-watching and other recreational pursuits.
Not sure if you have invasive plants on your land? Or what to do about them if you do? Learn more here about how to apply for a free invasive plant survey of your land.

In this bittersweet Parisian romance from Cédric Klapisch (The Spanish Inn, Russian Dolls, Back to Burgundy), warehouse employee Rémy (François Civil) and research assistant Mélanie (Ana Girardot) have never met, but they live parallel lives—they reside in neighboring apartment buildings, ride the same subway route, and are troubled by bouts of insomnia and depression. Their days punctuated by unfulfilling jobs, they seek meaningful romantic and platonic connection. As they stumble through psychotherapy, dating apps, fainting spells, and family visits, the seemingly star-crossed duo orbit around each other but remain just out of reach. Klapisch spins a delicate “what-if” from their compartmentalization, exploring our increasingly hermetic modern urban life. In French with English Subtitles.

Did you know that you can get solar power for less than you’re paying now for your electric bill? Customers of Duke Energy can benefit from net metering until year 2032 and a 26 percent federal tax credit is available for 2020. The Solarize program is open to residential, commercial and nonprofit property owners in Monroe and nearby counties.
Learn about the performance, cost and incentives for solar energy systems from Solar Indiana Renewable Energy Network volunteers. For the duration on the Covid-19 crisis, all presentations take place online via Zoom. Access codes will be emailed to you when you sign up. You will be able to ask questions of the presenters and the solar company.
You can register for upcoming sessions at www.tinyurl.com/
SIREN acts as a technical advisor on a non-profit, volunteer basis. SIREN and its volunteers are not paid in any way. The City of Bloomington collaborates with SIREN on this program to further demonstrate its support for renewable energy. See https://bloomington.in.gov/sustainability/solarize for details. **the city does not subsidize purchases**
The Solar Indiana Renewable Energy Network (SIREN) formed in 2008 to promote an alternative energy model to reduce dependence on coal. Since then, we have continued to help more and more homes, businesses, churches, governmental buildings, and schools become solar powered. By presenting free, public Going Solar programs, and organizing Solarize group-purchase programs in partnership with city teams around the state, we help overcome barriers to adoption of solar in the Midwest by demonstrating its performance, affordability, and availability. If you want to see our culture move away from fossil fuels as a foundation, embracing the possibility of carbon-neutral energy, then join our efforts right here in southern Indiana.
