Choose a 1.5, 3 or 5-mile family-friendly course to run or walk and earn points towards run club milestone rewards!
We formed our run club as part of our brewery’s dedication to our community. Our sixth Guiding Principle of how we run Switchyard states, “Be an active part of our community.” We believe that business can, and should be a catalyst for positive change within our community. We believe that a business has an obligation to give back to the community of which it is a part. Our run club is an extension of exactly that.
Our routes can be found on our Run Club Facebook page, or you can pick up a printout of our turn by turn directions for simple navigation at check-in.
As always, be courteous to our neighbors while running by making sure to look both ways before darting into traffic, running off to the side and letting cars pass, and be sure to give our neighbors a wave as you run by! 👋🏼
We all run the first mile together.
Be sure to arrive at the brewery a little early each run to sign in.

First Viewing, The Venue’s Juried Art Show, THE ART & SOUL OF BLOOMINGTON IV
On Friday, July 5th, beginning at 6:00p.m. we will host the first viewing of The Venue’s Juried Art Show, The Art & Soul of Bloomington IV.
For the fourth consecutive year we have challenged creators of art to, in all mediums, to create works that capture the spirit, the essence of our great city, Bloomington, Indiana. The fruits of their labors are impressive. We then ask our Jurors, who live and work at the heart of our local art community, to select the pieces that best exemplify that theme. Their results have created the body of art of The Art & Soul of Bloomington, IV.
On Friday of this Holiday Weekend, after you have garnered your fair share of sun and food, drop by The Venue and have the first opportunity to view and shop what has become one of the finest juried art shows in the Midwest . You can also cast you ballot for the show’s coveted People’s Choice Award.

Come be a kid again! Just show up at 6 p.m. (don’t be late). We’ll divide up into groups and pick teams with whoever is here. Take a photo and hashtag #btownparks and #sandlotsoftball on Instagram on game night for a chance to win a random prize.
WFIU and the Jazz Studies department of the IU Jacobs School of Music will host the 28th annual Jazz in July concert series with four free, family-friendly concerts in July. The revived series kicks off on Friday, July 5th at 7 p.m. with the Jamaal Baptiste Latin-Jazz Combo, followed by the Amanda Gardier Quintet on July 12th, Elena Escudero on July 19th, and the Tucker Brothers Quartet on July 26th.
Pianist Jamaal Baptiste grew up on the island of Aruba, a nexus for the music of the Americas and Europe. His instinctive feel and musicianship delight listeners and dancers alike. Jamaal is comfortable performing in a wide range of musical settings, with experience in Jazz, Blues, R&B, Gospel, Latin, Brazilian, and Caribbean music. His island roots are infused into the trio’s unique sound, and his versatility glues the band together.
Saxophonist, recording artist, and composer Amanda Gardier has been described as “a uniquely talented jazz composer and soloist” (Nuvo). With influences stemming from Miguel Zenon, The Bad Plus, Walter Smith III, and Bjork, Gardier is an alto saxophonist who juxtaposes the calmness of lush harmonies and cyclical melodies with the intensity of complex rhythms and fiery improvisation.
Elena Escudero is a vocalist hailing from West Lafayette, Indiana. Escudero received her B.M. in Jazz Studies from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in May 2019. She performs regularly in Bloomington and surrounding areas, both with IU-affiliated ensembles, such as the Plummer Quintet, led by Walter Smith III, as well as independently run groups of the jazz, R&B, and fusion genres.
The Tucker Brothers Group was founded by brothers Joel and Nick Tucker in 2015 with the mission of creating thoughtful and positive instrumental music. Their album Writing Prompts was created with the mission of paying homage to the past jazz musicians hailing from Indianapolis. The compositions included on this recording often hint at a sound from the past, yet fully embrace the jazz culture of present day.
All concerts take place at the Conrad Prebys Amphitheater. In case of rain, the backup locations are as follows for the respective dates: July 5, 12 – Cramer Marching Hundred Hall; July 19, 26 – Recital Hall.
A deviously delicious summertime sci-fi musical comedy, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for over 30 years. Chaos ensues after he learns that Audrey II is no ordinary plant.

We at The Venue are excited to announce our “Art & Soul of Bloomington IV” Juried Art Show, opening July 6th, 2019. We believe that Bloomington is a very special place, a place that nourishes and challenges the body, mind, and spirit of those who are privileged to call it home. We are not shy about our belief in Bloomington Exceptionalism. The Venue challenges you, as an artist, to identify and express your personal experience of Bloomington.
As judging criteria, we are looking for skill in the use of a variety of materials, how well that medium relates to our theme, and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. The Jurors’ awards will reflect that artistic judgment. Virtually every medium will be accepted including but not limited to; Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Photography, Pastel, Drawing, Print, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Ceramics, Jewelry, Glass, Assemblage, Fabric and Computer Generated Art. Twenty Five pieces will be selected and included in the show.
The Venue is the longest-standing, privately owned, multi-medium Art Gallery in the City of Bloomington, Indiana. We are located in the Bloomington Entertainment & Arts District (BEAD), in our free-standing Victorian building, a stone’s throw from the Sample Gates entrance into Indiana University’s campus.
Award-winning harpist Remy van Kesteren presents a musically and visually stunning performance featuring material from his most recent album, Shadows. In creating Shadows, Remy sought to create his own universe. After a three-year musical search for a new sound for this album, he emerged with a product that combines many genres – electronic, minimal, ambient, jazz, pop, world music, and classical. Of this process, Remy states:
” I wanted to reinvent myself as a musician. To do that, I abandoned my harp for almost a year. I started playing other instruments like piano and guitar, and I started singing. I was also playing a lot on synthesizer and programming software. It was a difficult time for me. Without the harp I lost all my securities. In classical music you play what is written, and play it well. But since now every note had to come from me, I was insecure about everything.”
Shadows, on the Universal label, was co-produced with the English ex-DJ, singer-songwriter, and producer Fink. The music is accompanied by projections and video mapping by Blue Hour taking the audience into a poetic visual world in which to experience the music.
This performance is sponsored by Patty and Sam Ardery. Special thanks to the Exclusive Sponsors of the 11th USA International Harp Competition: Lyon & Healy Harps, Inc. and the IU Jacobs School of Music.
Doors will open at 6:30pm for this general admission show. Anticipated run time is 85 minutes, no intermission. To qualify for the student & youth ticket price, you must either be 12 or younger or able to show a student ID.
