On Thursday, December 8, 2016, Citizens’ Climate Lobby and Green Drinks Bloomington will host a celebration. CCL will be a focus of this week’s episode of the acclaimed National Geographic series “Years of Living Dangerously,” which has helped to bring national attention on climate change and the individuals and organizations working to alleviate it. CCL and Green Drinks Bloomington will host a public watch party for the program, to be held at the Banquet Facility at the Upland Brewing Company. The doors will open at 5:30 pm and the program begins at 6 pm.
Jazz pianist and SPEA faculty Monika Herzig will engage the audience through performance, historical tidbits, trivia questions, and sing-alongs with holiday spirit galore!

Now in its 9th year in Nashville, Golden Ticket Productions (formerly Palace Theater) present this popular holiday variety show. Al new for 2016, music includes Christmas songs, Broadway classics plus comedy including a finale with Santa Claus.
The show is ramped up to fill the Playhouse with holiday singing, laughter and special effects lighting! Golden Ticket Productions produced two hit musicals at the Playhouse: Seriously Sinatra and Platinum Girls.

Bloomington Restorations, Inc. invites you to the monthly Museum Open Day at the Hinkle-Garton Farmstead on Saturday, November 26 and December 10, from 1-4 p.m. Volunteers will be decorating the Queen Anne main house for Christmas and Friday Musicale will provide music in the parlor. Visitors are invited to join in the fun and do some holiday shopping in the museum shop, including jams and jellies produced on site. The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned and maintained by Bloomington Restorations, Inc. It is free and open to the public and is located at 2920 E. Puckett, is a songwriter and a fingerstyle guitarist with 30 years of experience playing music. A third-generation picker with a dedicated love of music, his musical mastery allows for the innovative meeting of sound and emotion. Spontaneous, magical, laughable, and honest, his live performance is both engaging and entertaining. Puckett also holds the 2013 Indiana Fingerstyle Contest title. His musical repertoire includes jazz, rock, country, blues, and funk.
We’ll be auctioning off autographed books (from such notable figures as Sherman Alexie, Henry Rollins, Amy Goodman), along with goodies from many local businesses. It will be a nice opportunity to get some unique gifts for loved ones, and support the community! We’ll have some casual entertainment and light refreshments as well. Family friendly event, all are welcome!

During the Holiday Soapmaking and Soap Sculpting Workshop, kids and adults learn how soap is made and are involved with making a batch of soap with the soapsmiths. After the soapmaking process is finished, workshop attendees will create their own soaps, including adding the essential oils and exfoliants of their choice. Then, they will shape soap sculptures/mini soaps to take home or give as holiday gifts.

The popular Pet Photo Night returns to the Simon Santa Photo Experience at College Mall this year. Many pet owners view their pet as an integral member of the family and are just as committed in caring for their pets as their “human” family members. Pet Photo Night at College Mall will be on December 11 at 6 p.m. Pet Photo nights are hosted after regular mall closing and the set gets an extensive cleaning following the event to remove any potential risk to allergy sufferers.

Back for its third year in a row, the Crimson Film Festival celebrates the work of Indiana University students and regional filmmakers each fall. It is put on by the Student Cinema Guild, an organization where all IU Bloomington students can collaborate to gain the experience and preparation they need to work in the entertainment industry. Students write, direct, produce, and showcase their films and work together to learn and grow as media creators. SCG provides the support, equipment, monthly workshops, and networking sessions for members. Weekly meetings take place Thursdays at 8 p.m. in IU Radio-TV 251. (Digital Presentation)

Gremlins is a wildly original roller-coaster ride of hilarious mischief. For the 2016 family holiday show, the company celebrates 10 years of kids contributing to Cardinal with a revival of Lionel Bart’s glorious Oliver!. The show will be produced in partnership with multiple local youth groups and will feature a cast of 75+ kids, along with our own legendary Mike Price as the thieving scalawag Fagin!
Please join Community Justice and Mediation Center (CJAM) for Krista Detor’s Holiday Benefit Show, Made in Indiana. The show takes place on December 16 th at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2120 N. Fee Lane. Joining Krista is author Scott Russell Sanders, folk artist Tim Grimm, and author Phil Gulley. Together, they will weave winter and holiday stories and songs set in historical and fictional locations in Indiana. It's a lovely cup of holiday cheer and includes the annual Holiday Market featuring locally-made artisans and their wares.
