The Bloomfield Friday Farmer’s Market will feature “Small Business Night” and “Vintage Pop-Up Night” on Friday, September 9 from 4-7 pm.  For a $5 fee, small businesses and vintage/collectable sellers are invited to set up a tent/table and advertise their business or sell their wares!  The purpose of Small Business Night is to inform the public about the goods and services provided by small businesses in our own community, and to encourage residents to “buy local”.  The Bloomfield market is held each Friday and is located on the corner of Spring and Franklin streets. Small Business displays will be set up in the grassy lot across Franklin Street from Bloomfield Manufacturing.  Businesses can pay their fee to the market manager that evening. Decorated golf carts are to arrive at 5pm. There will be prizes for first and second place. The entry fee is $5.00

For Gallery Walk, Ekphrasis at The Venue
On Friday, August 5^th, for Gallery Walk beginning at 5:00p.m., The Venue will feature paintings selected for this year’s Venue Ekphrasis.
We at The Venue have invited ten of Bloomington’s finest Artists and ten of our most accomplished Poets to participate in an Ekphrasis. Each artist has submitted a painting, and each poet has selected one of the paintings, that inspires them to write a poem. The paintings will be our visual show for the month of August.
On Saturday, August 20^th, at 6:00p.m., and again on August 27^th at 6:00p.m. at The Venue, five of the artists will explain the inspiration for their painting, and five of the Poets will read the poems that those paintings inspired. The interaction will elucidate and amplify their creative process.
Our gourmet soup and other special refreshments will be served. Join us.

A hilarious play about a very bad, but lovable doggy “Sylvia” – a story about a man’s relationship with one of those magical animals who so often find us just when we are at a crossroads in life. Sylvia the dog is dramatized by having the adopted dog played by an actress. Some adult doggy behavior and language.

Bloomington Restorations, Inc. invites you to “Jam Fest” at the monthly Museum Open Day at the Hinkle-Garton Farmstead on Saturday, August 27, from 1-4 p.m. Featured will be a variety of seasonal jams and preserves for sampling and sale including plum, mulberry, blueberry, and blackberry, as well as dandelion, basil and mint jellies. All are produced by farmstead volunteers using ingredients grown onsite or locally. And just in time for fall planting a variety of native plants will also be available for purchase. Fall planting allows the plants to get established prior to freezing temperatures without the threat of summer heat, drought and other issues. Visitors will also be entertained by live music provided by members of Friday Musicale. The Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned and maintained by Bloomington Restorations, Inc. It is free and open to the public and is located at 2920 E.
