A section of the B-line trail will close today and tomorrow, while contractors install two prefabricated bridges.
City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department Director of Operations and Development David Williams said cranes will swing two large bridges into place, at the B-Line’s intersections with Grimes Ln. and S. Bryan Street, along the West Access Spur.
The city of Bloomington is encouraging commuters that regularly use the B-Line trail along the upcoming Switchyard Park area to instead use the sidewalks along South Rogers Street. According to a press release from the city of Bloomington, the alternate route is marked with B-Line Trail detour signs.
The erection of the two bridges is part of the construction of the city’s Switchyard Park. The park will be made up of 65.29 acres and is planned to include a dog park, playground, splash pad and skate park, among other facilities. Construction of the park began in May, 2018. Williams said Switchyard Park is expected to open in November.
The B-Line Trail will re-open to users no later than 7 p.m. Thursday. Users of the trail should expect further closures and detours down the line, as construction takes place.
