On Monday, May 13, Michael Brooks was killed while riding his bike. Mikey Brooks was a Bloomington resident and an employee at Upland Brewing Company. He was 41-years-old when he died.
He was pronounced dead that night at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital at 11:02 p.m. An autopsy revealed that Mikey Brooks died of blunt force trauma to the head.
According to a report in the Bloomington Herald Times, Alicia D. Hacker was preliminary charged with leaving the scene of an accident fatality after damage to her vehicle was found to be consistent with damage to the bicycle of the victim. Hacker said she thought she hit a deer.
A neighbor reported hearing a crash near North Russell Road and East Indiana 45. Ambulances arrived about 30 minutes after the neighbor’s report.
