The park is designed to encourage pollinating wildlife, like birds, bees and butterflies, within the city, and will occupy 2.5 acres, near Cummins.

The area the proposed pollinator park would occupy was flooded in 2008. The Republic reports 48 homes on the east side of Columbus were damaged in the floods.

The proposed project was approved in September, by city officials. About $16,000 has been apportioned to the park.
