Gun Reform Advocates Gather at Courthouse, Columbus, Nashville

WFHB, 2018. All Rights Reserved.
Activists laid out shoes along the courthouse lawn. A sign nearby stated “96 pairs of shoes = 96 lives lost each day to gun violence.”

Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Bloomington, Nashville, and Columbus today, to demand gun reform.

The protesters were part of a national Wear Orange campaign, which is hosting demonstrations across the country this weekend. Protesters, who are demanding increased restrictions to firearm purchases and background checks, gathered on the Monroe County Courthouse lawn this afternoon. Today’s rally coincides with National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and kicks off a weekend of demonstrations throughout the country.

The protests come just a week after a school shooting at Noblesville West Middle School, which left a teacher and student wounded.
