Nationwide there are more than 21.5 million veterans, many of whom struggle with PTSD, brain injury or trauma, and drug and alcohol addictions. This combination sometimes leads to problems as veterans reintegrate into civilian life, and some find themselves in court. Monroe County Chief Probation Officer Linda Brady has secured a $64,000 grant from the Indiana Judicial Center to fund the creation of a veterans court in Monroe County that could connect veterans with services targeted to their special needs. For today’s WFHB community report, Assistant News Director Sarah Vaughan spoke with Mary Elftman, the Veterans Services Coordinator of Monroe County about the creation of a Veterans Court.
