Rafia Zakaria: Women in Pakistan

Play

Pakistan is in the news, but how much do we really know about this country and its people? Rafia Zakaria is a Bloomington doctoral student working on a dissertation about the plight of women in Pakistan, caught between terrorism and fundamentalism. Zakaria is an attorney for the Muslim Alliance of Indiana and a consultant for Amnesty International. She takes us behind the burka with stories of repression from her own family back home in Pakistan and explores the intersection of identity and Muslim religious law in this WFHB radio exclusive.
