Graduate student Shameka Neely is a witness to history. Neely took a camera crew to Washington for the inauguration of President Barack Obama, using the footage in her documentary for WTIU, Witnesses to History. As a follow-up, Shameka Neely organized “Race in the Age of Obama,” a panel forum Wednesday night featuring city and campus speakers, to expound on the program and discuss some concerns mentioned in the documentary and in our society. IU history professor Kuh-LEEL Muhammad wonders if race relations are moving forward or backward after an introduction by fellow professor John Nieto-Phillips.
