Governor Mitch Daniels announced yesterday that an agreement has been solidified between Indiana and Amazon.com, Inc, in which Indiana would begin collecting sales tax on internet purchases in 2014. Amazon is Indiana’s largest online retailer and current transactions through the company do not add state sales tax to consumers purchases. As WFHB has previously reported, a new organization: The Indiana Merchants for Tax Fairness has formed, representing “brick and mortar” stores who feel they are working in an unfair retail environment.
