Volunteers in Tutoring Adult Learners (VITAL) is a learning lab operating out of the Monroe County Public Library. VITAL started as a literacy program but has expanded in recent years to include English as a Second Language tutoring and helping stroke victims regain their communication skills. Susan Welsand has been a VITAL volunteer for 42 years. In that time she’s done a lot of teaching but also a lot of learning – if YOU sign up as a volunteer Susan guarantees you’ll meet fascinating people who might even become lifelong friends.
