Rep. Pierce, Dems Call for Attorney General’s Impeachment

Indiana Democrats submitted a letter to the Speaker of the House, calling for an investigation into sexual assault allegations against Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill.

Hill is accused of sexual assault by four women. He has been asked to step down from his post by top Democratic and Republican lawmakers in the state. He is accused by (D-Munster) Maria Candelaria Reardon, along with three legislative staffers, of sexual harassment and assault.

Rep. Reardon, Gabrielle McLemore, and Niki DaSilva have publicly accused the state’s highest law enforcement official of inappropriate and illegal behavior during an end-of-the-legislative-session party, in March, at AJ’s Lounge in Indianapolis. Hill allegedly groped the four women several times throughout the evening, and made sexist remarks toward them. Hill denies the allegations and refuted calls for his ouster during a press conference, last week.

Democratic lawmakers, including Bloomington Rep. Matt Pierce, submitted a letter today to House Speaker Brian Bosma’s office, calling for an official investigation into the allegations against Attorney General Hill.

Pierce said, although the legislature is not currently in session, he believes Speaker Bosma could call for a review by judiciary committee, which could consider whether to proceed with impeachment articles against Attorney General Hill.

Hill replaced his Communications Director and used his official press channel to refute the allegations against him, as recently as Thursday.
