Last month, a US District Court judge granted a temporary injunction against Indiana’s new state law allowing judges to notify the parents of a minor girl when she is seeking an abortion.
Current Indiana law already requires a minor who does not have parental consent for an abortion to petition the court for the right to have the procedure.
The new law, which would have gone into effect this month, gives judges the authority to notify a minor girl’s parents that she is seeking the procedure.
While Indiana’s Attorney General is appealing the recent injunction, some think the new law is unconstitutional. Reporters Arjun Ballasundrum and Sarah Vaughan bring us the story for Today’s Community Report.
