The third reading of House Bill 1135 is scheduled on the floor of the Indiana house of representatives this afternoon. The bill seeks to establish a state midwifery board that would set qualifications for certifying the practice of midwifery in the state. This afternoon, WFHB News Director Alycin Bektesh spoke with Mary Helen Ayres – president of the Indiana Midwives Association – about the growing trend of homebirths, and the progress of the bill during this year’s general assembly, for today’s Daily Local News feature exclusive.
