Elected Officials on Healthcare Reform

Play

The courthouse lawn was the site today for yet another local rally for healthcare reform, but this one was different: each and every speaker is an elected government official. These local officials called on Indiana’s Congressional delegation to pass healthcare reform before going on recess. Rally organizers say Congress has the best opportunity in a generation to fix our broken system. Speakers included Monroe County Commissioner Mark Stoops, Bloomington city clerk Regina Moore, and city councilwoman Susan Sandberg. Another elected official who showed up was NOT invited – State Senator Brent Steele of Bedford, who stood behind the group with a sign saying we should NOT rush to pass healthcare reform. Weíll give Steele the last word after the rally speakers as we go on-location to the courthouse square in this WFHB exclusive.
