A new report shows groundwater across the state is being contaminated by unsafe amounts of toxic heavy metals from coal ash; Bloomington will roll out 150 ‘smart bikes’ as part of a new bike share program, this Spring; Black Lives Matter is encouraging residents to contact Mayor John Hamilton’s office, and give their opinions about the city’s purchase of an armored truck; The Monroe County Council allocates $190,000 to plan expansion of the Monroe County Youth Services Bureau.

FEATURE
House Bill 1214 was originally meant to allow for the sale of Cannabidiol (CBD) oil to prescribed patients, but after a similar bill passed in the Indiana Senate, Republicans in the state legislature are using HB 1214 as a vehicle to deregulate gun laws. Rep. Matt Pierce (D – Bloomington) is on both conference committees over the Senate and House Bills. Pierce says it’s likely he’ll be ousted from the House committee, due to his objection to the gun deregulation measures being put into the legislation.
