Monroe County terminated an agreement with the city of Bloomington yesterday, over the proposed Convention Center expansion; The city’s Commission on the Status of Black Males lined up, outside of Templeton Elementary School, to welcome students back to school; The Indiana State Department of Health has found mosquitoes with West Nile Virus throughout counties in the state, including in Monroe County; The completion date for I-69 has been pushed back, due to recent rains.

FEATURE
Tomorrow marks the 73rd anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki. Bloomington Peace Action Coalition member David Keppel, who said the group is marking the anniversary in the hopes that it will be the last atomic weapon ever used. Keppel speaks about the influence of Indiana residents on nuclear politics, in today’s feature report.

Local residents were caught unaware of two popular financial scams, costing them thousands of dollars. Better Beware’s Richard Fish has the details.
