Friends of Hidalgo is an Indiana non-profit organization that has provided support to the people of Calnali, Mexico for the last eighteen years. Today the Bloomington Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center hosted a ceremony to mark a new stage in this multicultural relationship. The city of Calnali is located in the state of Hidalgo, and today Bloomington hosted an entourage of Mexican state government as they travel Indiana to strengthen ties between our communities and to sign agreements in the areas of agriculture, education, public safety and economic development. Now the Friends of Hidalgo are hoping Bloomington city officials will accept an offer from the city of Calnali to formally establish a sister-city partnership.
