Part One:
Hosts William Hosea and Clarence Boone welcome Dr. Terri Francis, Associate Professor of Cinema and Media Studies, Director of The Black Film Center/Archive, and regular BIO! guest. Today she is joined by her colleague Carmel Curtis from the Moving Image Archive. They are here to talk about a series of community-made films called “We Tell: 50 Years of Participatory Media.” The series will feature several guests, including Louis Massiah, an amazing documentary filmmaker.

But first, Dr. Terri Francis presents an overview of the upcoming Spring semester’s film series, “LOVE! I’M IN LOVE!”  This is an American Black film series centered on themes of love and family during trying times, operating mainly as a counter-point to the more popular black exploitation films of the 1970s. This film series explores how black affection and love are represented in American film.

Part Two:
Hosts William Hosea and Clarence Boone welcome Dana Black, who is the Indiana Democrat Party Deputy Chair of Engagement, Indiana Stonewall Democrats President, Lawrence Township Democrat Club Member, Lawrence Township Precinct Committeeman, and NAACP Member. Dana is also the host of the radio show Turn Left and co-host of the podcast Policy with a Purpose.

Dana works to bring the legislative information Hoosiers need to make sound decisions about those that should represent us. Today she is here to discuss the importance of understanding the various local issues at stake with this year’s upcoming election, update us with recent political developments throughout the state of particular relevance to the African American community, and to urge everyone to vote.
