On today’s edition of Bring It On!, hosts, Clarence Boone and William Hosea welcome Robin Winston, an accomplished business leader and a skilled political strategist, to talk about Black Americans and the Republican Party.
Five Facts about Black Republicans include:
1) Black Republicans are younger than Black Democrats and White Republicans.
2) Black Republicans have a similar income profile to Black Democrats.
3) As is the case among Black Democrats, roughly half of Black Republicans live in the South.
4) Black Republicans are less likely than Black Democrats to attend Black churches.
5) Black Republicans are less likely than Black Democrats to say being Black is a significant part of their personal identity.
Today, only about one-in-ten Black adults identify with or lean toward the Republican Party. Moreover, in a Pew Research Center survey in October, only 4% of Black registered voters said they would vote for the Republican candidate for the U.S. House seat in their district, while 69% said they would back the Democratic candidate.
Robin Winston joins the program to provide his astute observations on the relationship between Black Americans and the Republican Party. Along with his views on the political horizon in Indiana, he will field some questions pertaining to the circus atmosphere in the US House of Representatives, Donald Trump’s last stand in Georgia and up and coming Democratic talent like Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.
