More following today’s feature. But first, your local headlines:

WFHB’s Spring Fund Drive

You’re listening to the WFHB Local News during our Spring Fund Drive. The WFHB Local News is a volunteer-powered, thirty minute newscast that reports on government meetings, local headlines and daily feature reports. This award-winning news program is a special part of our community – empowering citizens to become journalists and creating an inclusive space for concerned residents to become a part of the local news media landscape. WFHB’s vibrant news department couldn’t happen without you. From programs like the WFHB Local News, to Bring It On, Hola Bloomington, Eco Report, Kite Line and more – funding for the news department comes from listeners like you.

With all of that said, WFHB’s News Department needs your help in order to continue providing a diverse array of news and public affairs programming each and every week for you to learn, become inspired and take action on issues in South Central Indiana. The WFHB Local News needs to raise 200 dollars during this very program to keep this program alive and well on the airwaves. To make a pledge, please call 812-323-1200. Again that’s 812-323-1200. Or you can visit our website and make a donation safely and securely through our website. Thank you for listening and thank you for supporting WFHB Community Radio.

Monroe County Public Library Board of Trustees

Upon entering the library, you can see the words, “read, learn, connect and create” (Young).

At the Monroe County Public Library Board of Trustees meeting on March 22nd, Director of the Library Grier Carson gave his monthly report.

He also updated the board on the Southwest Branch’s construction. He shared that the construction is on schedule for the grand opening on Friday June 9th.

Next, the board heard from Kyle Wickemyer-Hardy who presented proposed changes to the bereavement leave policy.

Board Member Kari Esarey supported the change to allow staff members to ask for additional time off if needed. She asked for clarification that the five day allotment was per bereavement leave. Wickemyer-Hardy responded.

The board voted to amend the bereavement leave policy unanimously.

The next Monroe County Public Library Board of Trustees meeting will be held on April 19th.
