Vauhxx Booker, Black Lives Matter

Play

Bloomington’s best-known figure in the Black Lives Matter movement, Vauhxx Booker, oddly enough started out life burdened by a profound speech impediment. He’s overcome that to become the spokesperson and the public face of the local BLM branch. He’s earned front page newspaper coverage, first disrupting Mayor John Hamilton’s 2018 State of the City speech, then a Bloomington city council meeting, and finally being involved in a public disturbance with a Bloomington Transit ticket agent. Booker and his family have a long history in South Central Indiana and he’s acutely aware of the history of American black people.

Host Michael Glab goes one-on-one with Bloomington’s most fascinating people every Thursday at 5:30pm. Tune in for a bonus feature, Big Talk Extra, every Monday on the Daily Local News at 5:00pm for added chat from the previous week’s show.
