A senior at Indiana University in 2016, Alexi King turned her work at an internship into the Midway Music Festival. Dedicated to promoting and connecting women and those who identify as women through music, the Fest features performers and music professionals from all over the United States. The nonprofit, Midway Music Speaks, with King as founder and creative director and Rachel Glago as executive director, will stage its third annual fest Saturday, October 5th, at venues around Bloomington. Midway Music Speaks also sponsors educational programs for kids and adults as well as an annual musical talent competition in town, with an eye to increasing female participation in the music business. This year’s Fest features more than two dozen performers from around the country as well as Bloomington’s own talented women and those who identify as such.
