MCCSC Working to Inform Voters of Property Tax Referendum Benefits

Play

Supporters of the Monroe County Community School Corporation are stepping up their efforts to lobby the community to support a property tax referendum on the November ballot. The tax is expected to provide $7MM annually to local public schools. Lynn Coyne is one of the tri-chairs of the Yes for MCCSC Committee, which kicked off its campaign earlier this month. According to its website, the Yes for MCCSC Committee is made up of community volunteers, parents and business leaders working to prevent cuts to MCCSC staff and programs. WFHB’s Sarah Vaughan spoke with Coyne about the upcoming referendum. You can find an estimated budget with a projection of how the school corporation will use the tax monies for 2017 and 2018 at yesformccsc.org/supply-closet.
