You’re listening to Deep Dive: WFHB and Limestone Post Investigate where we look into issues regarding Health, Housing, and the Environment that directly impact residents of Monroe County. Last month we looked into problems caused by the Housing Crisis, this month we will share possible solutions. In Monroe County, there has been a collaborative effort to address the housing crisis. Both local government and local non-profits have been working together to increase the amount of affordable housing available.

WFHB News and Limestone Post spoke with Executive Director of Beacon, Inc. Forrest Gilmore, Director of Housing Security for United Way Mary Morgan and IU Campus United Way Coordinator Catherine Blankensop regarding Heading Home of South Central Indiana and the idea of “housing-first” as an approach to address the issue of homelessness in the community. This is the first edition in a four-part series looking at potential solutions to the housing crisis in Bloomington and Monroe County.
