In the wake of the contentious 2016 US presidential election, many people around the nation took to their corners and saw those they disagreed with as enemies. Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and liberals too often refused to talk with each other and if they occasionally did, the exchanges turned into pitched battles. One group of people, taking their cue from Abraham Lincoln’s “better angels” speech, created a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to de-polarizing politics, fostering civil discourse, and helping people learn to listen to each other. Miles Eddy and Jeff Marks will serve as left- and right-leaning facilitators at Braver Angels of South Central Indiana’s Skills for Bridging the Divide workshop Sunday, January 29th, at the Monroe County Public Library main branch in Bloomington.
Hosts Michael Glab and Alex Ashkin chat with Bloomington’s most fascinating people.
