Feliz Çiçek was born in the ancient land near the Black Sea in what is now known as Turkey that gave rise to the Amazons of Greek myth. Filiz hails from a family of female poets and musicians. She has combined the traditions of strong women and creative, imaginative ones to become an international advocate for females in the arts. She serves as the Istanbul coordinator for The Feminist Art Project and has been a college and university teacher in Bloomington, specializing in both art and Central Eurasian Studies. Çiçek curates this month’s Every Body Art exhibit at the Thomas Gallery on North College Avenue. This edition of Big Talk aired Thursday, August 2, 2018.
