Energy Task Force Aims to Turn Compost Into Truck Fuel

The City of Bloomington is looking to create more energy self reliance by converting composted waste to compressed natural gas. Utilities Director Vic Kelson told the Utilities Service Board last night, a Waste and Energy Task Force will examine the technical merit of the proposal. The Utilities Service Board will support a water quality initiative, by the Friends of Lake Monroe. Friends of Lake Monroe, a nonprofit, is applying for a federal grant to develop a watershed management plan, which would include the creation of a watershed coordinator position. City to Demolish Griffy Lake Water Plant

City of Bloomington Utilities plans to demolish its old Griffy Lake water plant. Capital Projects Manager Mike Hicks told the Utilities Service Board last night a recent investigation revealed asbestos at the plant.
