Local Storms Cause Damage, Danger

Severe storms on Saturday produced strong winds, heavy rain, and tornado warnings across the southern part of the state. The storms affected local counties including Monroe, Brown, Greene, Owen, Morgan, and Lawrence. Tornadoes in Greene and Monroe counties destroyed several homes and damaged more. Tornadoes Rip Through Indiana

Some fifty-three twisters and tornadoes made their way across eight states overnight. According the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 14 suspected tornadoes hit northern and eastern Indiana last night. Heavy Storms Batter Area; Monroe County Ready

Fierce storms battered southern Monroe and northern Lawrence counties yesterday afternoon before becoming tornadoes in central Indiana. The Lawrence County Sheriff warned residents of a gas leak along Gas Line Rd. through its Facebook page.
