2,756 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Indiana on Monday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health. There were 126 newly reported deaths. Locally, Monroe County saw 79 new confirmed cases yesterday and no new confirmed COVID-19 deaths. Lawrence County reported 18 new cases and 1 confirmed death. Columbus Moving Ahead With ‘Pollinator Park’

The park is designed to encourage pollinating wildlife, like birds, bees and butterflies, within the city, and will occupy 2.5 acres, near Cummins. The area the proposed pollinator park would occupy was flooded in 2008. Hundreds of Students Walk Out for Gun Reform

Over 500 Monroe County Community School Corporation high-schoolers walked out of class this morning at 10 a.m., as part of a national protest for gun reform. The students gathered at the Monroe County Courthouse, in downtown Bloomington, before marching to Third Street Park. Commission Approves $34 Million for Switchyard Park

The Bloomington Redevelopment Commission approved spending $34 million to construct Switchyard Park, yesterday. The Commission approved over $25 million worth of ‘additional features,’ that go beyond the original park plan, including a skate park, limestone concert seating, and a 90-space overflow parking lot off of Rogers Street.
