Community Kitchen, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, HH Food Bank Among Grant Recipients

The City of Bloomington plans to distribute $800,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds, this year.  The Community Kitchen, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, and Hoosier Hills Food Bank are to receive $25,000 dollars each, for emergency needs; Monroe County United Ministries and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington are in line to receive non-emergency funds.  The city annually receives Community Development Block Grant …

Kilroy’s Recess Closes Down

Recess is over. The owners of the 18-and-over nightclub, Kilroy’s Recess in Bloomington, have closed down their business. Kilroy’s Recess is being remodeled into a traditional bar, named Kirkwood Stacks. The closing comes less than a year after Recess opened, replacing Kilroy’s Dunnkirk. Hundreds of Students Walk Out for Gun Reform

Over 500 Monroe County Community School Corporation high-schoolers walked out of class this morning at 10 a.m., as part of a national protest for gun reform. The students gathered at the Monroe County Courthouse, in downtown Bloomington, before marching to Third Street Park. Bloomington Plan Commission Delays Decision For Lots Under Construction on Kirkwood

The Bloomington Plan Commission held off on making a decision October 7th about the first phase of a major development project downtown along Kirkwood Avenue. The Bloomington-based firm, GMS-Pavilion Properties, has proposed development on five different lots downtown. The project would include new apartments and a new building for Old National Bank.
