Bill Would Require Civics Exam for High School Graduates Next Year

Senate Bill 132 requires graduating high school students to pass the civics test from the U.S. citizenship exam, in order to graduate. If passed, SB 132 would begin requiring students to pass the exam during the 2020-2021 school year. Indiana Department of Education Releases ISTEP Results

The Indiana Department of Education released last year’s ISTEP+ results, this afternoon. The Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress tests evaluate school districts based on Indiana student scores. ISTEP tests students in grades 3 through 8 and high school sophomores on their mathematics and language arts skills. City Removing Asbestos, Mercury From Decommissioned Griffy Plant

The City of Bloomington Utilities department continues to work on removing mercury and asbestos at the decommissioned Griffy Lake treatment plant. Last night, the Utilities Service Board approved a $187,000 amendment to its existing contract with V.E.T. Environmental Engineering. The original contract was to handle the plant’s demolition.
