The Five Women Poets is an organization in Bloomington that serves as a creative outlet for women to meet and discuss poetry. Five Women Poets has been in existence since 1974, and they’ve been meeting once a month since then to discuss each other’s work. On May 15th, the Five Women Poets met at the Monroe County History Center to recite poems from their new chapbook, “Birds of a Feather.” The event featured poets Nancy Chen Long, Peggy Squires, Patricia C. Coleman, Anya Peterson Royce, Antonia Matthew, and Leah Helen May. Peggy Squires also ready poems written by Deborah Hutchinson. The Five Women Poets partnered with Wildcare Inc., in the creation of this chapbook. The poets are introduced by Jack Yonkman of Wildcare Inc.
