On Wednesday, August 17th, Bloomington’s Building a Thriving and Compassionate Community hosted an event entitled “Advocacy 102” at the city council chambers. They brought in Lisa Marchal, who is the senior Global Grassroots Associate for RESULTS. RESULTS is a nationwide advocacy group that teaches citizens how to properly write to their officials and advocate for issues important to them. Lisa talks about the most efficient ways to properly advocate, whether that is letters to the editor of your local newspaper or crafting a personal narrative.
