Youth Services Bureau: Iris Kiesling

The Youth Services Bureau is a county shelter and counseling program that houses troubled teens. Monroe County Commissioners want to move YSB into the county court system. This will put the shelter into a different part of the county budget, under the leadership of juvenile court judges, and would make the shelter eligible for more grant money to expand its programs. The shelter’s staff would expand from being combined with the juvenile probation program, and commissioners hope the placement of three probation officers at the youth shelter will help expand services. County Commissioner Iris Kiesling sat down for an interview with WFHB’s Will Murphy to talk about the implications of this restructuring of the local juvenile justice system.
