Welch Steps Through ‘Revolving Door’

Play

Former Indiana state representative Peggy Welch has been out of office just more than a month, and she already has a new full-time job. Welch announced late last week she was hired by an organization that lobbies for the medical device industry in Indiana. Until this year, Welch represented District 60, which includes part of Bloomington’s east side as well as much of Morgan County. Welch was hired to lobby her former colleagues in the state legislature, stepping through what is often called the revolving door between government and private industry. She’ll also be working in an industry she was heavily involved in regulating during her time at the Statehouse. Assistant News Director Joe Crawford brings us this WFHB feature exclusive about the implications of Welch’s new job, and some of the legislation she hopes to affect from outside the state legislature.
