Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens made a fortune during his forty years in the petroleum industry, and today he joked with a Bloomington audience that he’s ready to repent. Pickens recently spent sixty billion dollars on advertising to promote what he calls the Pickens Plan – a blueprint for energy independence for the United States. The ads helped him recruit one point six million people to support the cause, a crowd he affectionately calls his “army”. Pickens advocates natural gas, wind power, and yes even more oil as long as it’s AMERICAN oil. His approach includes green energy but puts nationalism before environmentalism; even nuclear power is an option according to Pickens, as long as it’s domestically produced. T.
