State Rep. Ralph Foley Defends His Definition of Marriage

Play

Social conservatives have been trying for several years to amend the Indiana state constitution to more specifically define marriage as involving only one man and one woman. The initiative passed both chambers during the 2007-2008 legislative session, but failed to pass a second time during the following election cycle as required to amend state constitution. Proponents of the bill have recently enjoyed success with the bill’s passage through the House Judiciary Committee chaired by Ralph Foley, who represents the northern most section of the WFHB listening area, district 47. In today’s feature, assistant news director Ryan Dawes questions representative Foley on why he thinks barring same sex partnerships from the institution of marriage is good for Indiana.
