On Thursday, October 27th, WFHB’s Interchange hosted a panel discussion in the Monroe County Public Library auditorium. The panel was about race and privilege and was coined a “Backyard Conversation” in hopes to talk about the issues surrounding race, racism, privilege,  and policing, with an emphasis on the local. The panel was hosted by Interchange’s host Doug Storm. The panelists included Berenice  Sanchez, who is a current doctoral student at IU’s School of Education and past Assistant Director of La Casa Cultural Latina at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Rasul Mowatt, Associate Professor of American Studies and Associate Chair and Associate Professor in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies at the School of Public Health; Jennifer Brooks, co-chair of Showing up for Racial Justice in Bloomington and WFHB volunteer; and William Morris, Civil Rights Attorney and member of the Bloomington Civil Rights Commission.
