The Bloomington Police Department captured a suspect in connection with an attempted murder investigation.
Brandon Richardson is wanted for allegedly tying up his girlfriend, beating, stabbing and strangling her over a period of three days. The woman reportedly told investigators at Monroe Hospital the assault began after the couple fought on Monday.
Members of Bloomington Police Department’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) served a warrant at Richardson’s suspected address this afternoon. Richardson was believed to be armed with multiple handguns and was considered very dangerous. At 12:35 p.m., CIRT was approaching the house when Brandon Richardson fled the residence in a 2003 red Acura. He proceeded West on Vernal Pike and struck a Sheriff’s vehicle, before turning north on Woodyard Road, where he crashed into three other police cars.
Richardson then reportedly shot himself once in the head with a handgun. He was transported to IU Health Bloomington for treatment, and is in critical condition.
UPDATE: The Bloomington Police Department stated Richardson was pronounced dead on April 17, at 2:17 p.m.
