Planned Parenthood Closes Ft. Wayne Clinic

Play

Planned Parenthood is closing their clinic in Fort Wayne due to intimidation. That’s according to Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky CEO Christie Gillespie. Gillespie made the announcement that Planned Parenthood will close down their Fort Wayne clinic, during a press conference this afternoon in Fort Wayne. Gillespie said Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky laid off four employees at the Fort Wayne clinic today. She said harassment by anti-abortion advocates made it difficult to find local healthcare providers to partner with.

The Fort Wayne Planned Parenthood clinic did not provide abortions in their facility. During the conference, Gillespie said that Planned Parenthood would return to Allen County, but declined to comment as to when, or in what capacity.

Allen County Right to Life President Cathie Humbarger issued a statement via social media following the Planned Parenthood conference. Humbarger stated, “We are unaware that the local Planned Parenthood office is closing. We do not practice or condone intimidation. All activities that we sponsor are lawful. We consider this closing a victory for unborn boys and girls.”
