Petitions Allege White Supremacist Ties to Farmer’s Market Vendor

Play

The Bloomington Farmer’s Market is facing a public petition, demanding the expulsion of two individuals who operate as vendors for Schooner Creek Farm.

The petition alleges the individuals are connected to the White supremacist movement, Identity Evropa, and encourages both the Bloomington Farmer’s Market and the Nashville Farmer’s Market to ban them.

The allegations come after the trial and FBI investigation into the vandalism of a Carmel synagogue, which convicted a 21 year-old Eminence, Indiana man. The Indy Star reports the man told FBI investigators he communicated with Identity Europa followers online, which activists allege are the owners of Schooner Creek Farm.

Over 40 people have signed at least one petition to the Bloomington Farmer’s Market, threatening to file a complaint with the USDA and the Indiana State Department of Health, if the vendor is not banned from the market.

Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department Program Coordinator Marcia Veldman told WFHB, “We’re aware of the situation. We’re gathering information to make a decision.”

The petitions come as the city begin opening its Weekday Farmer’s Market, tomorrow.
