Two of the nation’s preeminent scholars on international security and nuclear weapons held a debate in Bloomington this week on the long-term security implications of nuclear weapons, particularly in South Asia. Paul Kapur is associate professor in the Department of National Security Affairs at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. He’s written a book with Bloomington political science professor Sumit Ganguly, in which the two scholars present fundamentally opposing views on the overarching effect nuclear deterrence has had in South Asia. Ganguly goes first in “Should We Love the Bomb? A Debate on Nuclear Deterrence in South Asia”, a WFHB radio exclusive.
