Monroe County is currently designated as a medically underserved area by the Health Resources and Services Administration. Many local low-income families do not have access to quality health care, primarily due to a lack of health insurance. The stated goal of the Affordable Care Act of 2010 was to expand coverage to the uninsured, but complications have risen as more provisions of the law go into effect.Correspondent Stephen Brown spoke with health care activist and doctor Rob Stone about the Affordable Care Act and its impact on the community for today’s WFHB feature exclusive.
